| VSSM’s interest free loans helps the Gadaliya families increase the scope of their business... |
One thing we very well understand is, when it comes to small income and large family, it becomes important for both the husband and wife to earn. The Nomadic communities have very large families and sustaining even the bare necessities of raising so many children requires both husband and wife to earn living. Both working becomes challenge because there isn’t anyone to take care of the children and the household, so the kind of work that can be done from home is always the preferred option.
Punjiram Gadaliya , a resident of Ghanteshwar in Rajkot practiced his traditional occupation of crafting iron tools. It was an occupation that required the husband-wife pair to work, but Punjiram’s wife wasn’t skilled for this job. Thus Punjiram decided to change his occupation. Thye now sell mechanical tools and apparatus. They would purchase goods worth Rs. 1,000 to 1,500 and set out to sell in Rajkot an its neighbouring regions. With such less investment the returns aren’t much encouraging. It was something that took lot of their time and energy but returned nothing much.
In the past few months VSSM has allotted interest free loans to any of Punjiram’s fellow community men. VSSM has also been instrumental in getting all the citizenry documents of community here. Punjiram knew about this initiative and requested us for a loan of Rs. 10,000, keeping the money required for travel aside he purchased a the mechanical tools and instruments and set out to sell them to as far as Maharashtra. Every 10-15 days they returned to Rajkot, deposits the earnings, buy new stock and set off.
“We have very little needs, we don’t spend much, its enough if we can mange to pay the instalments, feed our family save some money. We don’t need more than that!!” is Punjiram’s idea on the amount of money he wants as for now he earns that much and is a happy and content man.
Difficult to imagine!! These are individuals who are minimalist to the core. Its hard to imagine in today’s world where we all just keep pushing ourselves to buy and own as much as possible!!
With just Rs. 10,000 we have allowed a family to accomplish and experience so much peace…..
સંસ્થાની લોન ભરાય, ઘર ખર્ચ નીકળી જાય અને નાની બચત પણ થાય છે..
રાજકોટના ઘંટેશ્વરમાં રહેતાં પુંજીરામ ગાડલિયા આમ તો પોતાનો બાપીકો વ્યવસાય લોખંડમાંથી વિવિધ ઓજરો બનાવવાનું કરતાં પણ પરિવાર મોટો થયો, જરૂરિયાત વધી એટલે પતિ-પત્ની બન્ને કામ કરે એ અંત્યંત જરૂરી હતું. પણ પુંજીરામના પત્નીને આ કામ આવડે નહિ. એટલે પુંજીરામે વ્યવસાય જ બદલી નાખ્યો. પાના, પક્કડ, ડીસમીસ વગેરે સામાન ખરીદીને વેચવાનું ચાલુ કર્યું. રૂ.૧૦૦૦ કે રૂ.૧૫,૦૦નો સામાન લાવે થોડો વેચાય એમ બીજો ભરતાં જાય અને રાજકોટ અને એની આસપાસના વિસ્તારમાં ફરીને વેપાર કરતા જાય.
vssm આ પરિવારો સાથે કામ કરે. સંસ્થા દ્વારા ગાડલિયા પરિવારોને એમનો વ્યવસાય વિકસાવવા વગર વ્યાજે લોન પણ આપવામાં આવેલી. પુંજીરામ બધું જાણે એટલે એમણે પણ vssm પાસેથી આ વ્યવસાય માટે રૂ.૧૦,૦૦૦ની માંગ કરી. vssm દ્વારા આ પરિવારોને મતદારકાર્ડ, રેશનકાર્ડ, આધારકાર્ડ કાઢી આપ્યા હતા. લોન આપવાની હોવાથી એમનાં બેંકમાં ખાતા પણ ખોલાવ્યાં સાથે સાથે બેન્કમાંથી પૈસા ઉપાડવા, મુકવા વગેરે પણ સમજાવવામાં આવ્યું.
પુંજીરામ રૂ.૧૦,૦૦૦ની લોનમાંથી પ્રવાસ ખર્ચના પૈસા હાથ પર રાખીને બાકીનાનો સામાન ખરીદ્યો અને પતિ-પત્ની બન્ને છેક મહારાષ્ટ્રના ગામડાંઓ સુધી વેપાર માટે જવા માંડ્યા છે. ૧૦ કે ૧૫ દિવસે રાજકોટ આવે બેંકમાં પૈસા જમા કરાવે અને એમાંથી જ જરૂર પડે સામાન ખરીદવા ઉપાડે. પુંજીરામ કહે છે એમ, ‘અમારી જરૂરિયાતો ખુબ ઓછી છે એટલે ઝાઝા ખર્ચનો પ્રશ્ન નથી રહેતો. સંસ્થાની લોન ભરાય, ઘર ખર્ચ નીકળી જાય અને નાની બચત પણ થાય છે અમારા માટે આ ઘણું છે.
કેટલો સંતોષ.. રૂ.૧૦,૦૦૦માં કોઈના જીવને સાતા(શાંતિ) આપી શકાય એનાથી ઉત્તમ કામ શુ હોઈ શકે. અમે આ કરી શકીએ છીએ એનો અમને ગર્વ છે.
