Goplabhai sharing his side of story to Shri Pratulbhai Shroff

 "I studied up to 10th grade and then started selling cutlery. In business, no matter how much capital you invest, it’s always less. I didn’t have much capital, so I started the cutlery business with whatever I had.

While having big dreams is important, the way I was doing business, I felt it would take years to fulfill those dreams. That’s when I got the idea of applying for a loan through KRSF in collaboration with the VSSM organization. Through my uncle, Chandubhai, we applied for a loan at the organization, and I received my first loan of 30,000. I used to run my business from an Activa. After receiving the loan, I purchased bulk goods from Pankor Naka in Ahmedabad, which helped me save money. Later, I took a second loan of 50,000. From the savings and the new loan, I added a bit more and made a down payment of 1 lakh to buy an Eco car. For the remaining amount, I took a loan from a finance company.

Now, with the car, my wife and I travel to three or four villages for the business. Our daily income has also become stable. My goal is to pay off the installments for the Eco car quickly so that I can get rid of the interest."

Gopalbhai, who lives in Sarasa gam in Anand district , quickly spoke these words in front of the founder of Dr. K.R. Shroff Foundation, the respected *Shri Pratulbhai Shroff.

Pratulbhai believes that education and financial stability can change a person’s life, which is why he helps underprivileged families who wish to start or expand their businesses. VSSM and KRSF have helped over 9,400 families so far to earn their livelihood with dignity.

After hearing Gopalbhai’s story, Pratulbhai asked him about his dreams, and Gopalbhai said, "I want to have my own shop."

When a person starts dreaming, it doesn’t take long for their situation to improve. Meeting Gopalbhai made me realize that... I wish for his dreams to come true soon."

'હું દસ ધોરણ ભણ્યો પછી કટલરી વેચવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. ધંધામાં તો કેવું જેટલી મૂડી નાખો એટલી ઓછી. મારી પાસે ઝાઝી મુડી નહોતી. એટલે જે હતું એમાંથી કટલરીનો વેપાર શરૃ કર્યો.

સપના ઊંચા જોવું પણ જે રીતે ધંધો કરતો એ રીતે એ બધું પુરુ કરવામાં વર્ષો થઈ જશે એમ લાગતું. આવામાં મને KRSF એ VSSM સંસ્થા સાથે મળીને લોન આપવાનું કાર્ય કરેનો ખ્યાલ આવ્યો. મારા કાકા ચંદુભાઈ થકી અમે સંસ્થામાં લોન મુકી ને પ્રથમ લોન 30,000ની મળી. હું એક્ટીવા પર ધંધો કરતો. લોનની રકમ મળી એટલે જથ્થાબંધ સામાન પાનકોર નાકા અમદાવાદથી લાવ્યો. બચત પણ થઈ. એ પછી મે બીજી લોન 50,000ની લીધી. બચત અને નવી લોનની રકમમાંથી થોડા ઉમેરી 1 લાખનું ડાઉનપેમેન્ટ ભરી મે ઈકો ગાડી લીધી. ખૂટતી રકમની મે ફાયનાન્સ કંપનીમાંથી લોન કરી. 

હવે ગાડી આવી તો ત્રણેક ગામોમાં હુ ને મારી પત્ની બેય ધંધા માટે જઈએ છીએ. રોજની આવક પણ સરખી થાય છે. પ્રયાસ ઈકોના હપ્તા ઝટ પતાવવાનો છે જેથી હું વ્યાજમાંથી બહાર નીકળી જવું.'

આણંદના સારસાગામમાં રહેતા ગોપાલભાઈ ડો કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનના સ્થાપક આદરણીય *શ્રી પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફ સામે ફટાફટ આ બોલી ગયા. 

શિક્ષણ અને આર્થિક સદ્ધરતા કોઈનું જીવન બદલી શકે એવું પ્રતુલભાઈ માને ને એટલે વંચિત અને વ્યવસાય શરૃ કરવાની અથવા તેને વધારવાની રાખનાર પરિવારોને મદદ કરે. VSSM અને KRSF એ અત્યાર સુધી 9400 થી વધુ પરિવારોને સ્વમાનભેર રોજી મળી શકે તે માટે મદદ કરી છે. 

ગોપાલભાઈની વાત સાંભળી પ્રતુલભાઈએ એમને સ્વપ્ન શું છે એ પુછ્યું ને ગોપાલભાઈએ કહ્યું, 'પોતાની દુકાન કરવાનું'

માણસ સ્વપ્ન જોતો થઈ જાય પછી એની સ્થિતિમાં સુધારો આવવામાં વાર નથી થતી એ ગોપાલભાઈને મળીને લાગ્યું..એમના સ્વપ્ન સાકાર થાય એવી શુભભાવના...

 Rajubhai used to sell flowers and flower garlands on retail basis in Jetpurgaam, Mahisagar.

There was no much demand of flowers in the village, so he used to go to Lunawada market with a rented cart carrying flowers.

He used to earn just enough to live from day to day. He knew that if he could get a work order to decorate wedding mandap and cars, the income will be good. But how would he get such big orders while working from just a cart?

We work to change the lives of acrobat families living in Jetpur. Our associate Vinodbhai regularly goes to Jetpur. Many families living in the village took loans from us and made good money.

Rajubhai also asked for a loan and we lent him a loan of Rs. 30,000. With this money, he rented a shop and bought more quantity of flowers. Resultantly, he started getting bigger orders to deliver flowers to weddings.

After that he took another loan of 50,000. That helped him generate more income. He bought Ecko car. If and when he gets an order in surrounding villages of Lunawada, he goes to fullfill orders there too. The car helped him to increase scope of his work.

Rajubhai's wife also helps him making flower garlands sitting home. Rajubhai dreams big. Because he is diligent, we are sure his dreams surely will materialize. 

Respected Pratulbhai Shroff and his Dr. K. R. Foundation are also now involved in self-reliance activities with VSSM. We are sure  that thousands of families will be helped by this association...

ફુલોના હાર ને છુટક ફુલ વેચવાનું કામ કરતા રાજુભાઈ મહિસાગરના જેતપુરગામના.

ગામમાં તો ફુલોનો એવો કોઈ વેપાર થાય નહીં એટલે લુણવાડાની બજારમાં ભાડાની લારી લઈને એ ફુલો લઈને ઊભા રહે.

રોજ જીવાય એટલું કમાય. લગ્ન મંડપ અને ગાડીઓ શણગારવાનું કામ મળે તો આવક સારી થાય એવું એ જાણે પણ લારી પર કામ કરનારને આવા ઓર્ડર ક્યાંથી મળે?

જેતપુરમાં રહેતા બજાણિયા પરિવારોની જિંદગી બદલાય એ માટે અમે કામ કરીએ. અમારા કાર્યકર વિનોદભાઈ નિયમીત જેતપુર જાય. ગામમાં રહેતા ઘણા પરિવારોએ અમારી પાસે લોન લીધી ને બે પાંદડે થયા.

રાજુભાઈએ પણ લોન માંગી અમે 30,000 લોન પેટે આપ્યા. એમાંથી એમણે એક દુકાન ભાડે લીધી ને વધારે ફુલો લાવ્યા. એમને લગ્નમાં ફુલો પહોંચાડવાના ઓર્ડર મળવા લાગ્યા.

એ પછી એમણે બીજી 50,000ની લોન લીધી. આવક પણ વધવા માંડી. ઈકો ગાડી લીધી ને હવે લુણાવાડા આસપાસના ગામોમાં ઓર્ડર મળે તો ત્યાં જઈને એ કામ કરવા માંડ્યા. ગાડી આવવાથી એમના કામનો વ્યાપ વધ્યો..

રાજુભાઈના પત્ની પણ ઘેર બેઠા ફુલોના હાર બનાવવામાં મદદ કરે.. રાજુભાઈના સપના મોટા. પણ એ મહેનતુ છે એટલે એ સાકાર પણ થશે..

વળી આદરણીય પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફ - ડો.કે.આર.ફાઉન્ડેશન હવે VSSM ની સાથે સ્વાવલંબન પ્રવૃતિમાં સાથે.. એમના સંગાથથી હજારો પરિવારોને મદદરૃપ થઈ શકાશે એ ચોક્કસ...

 ‘I want to expand my business; however, I need capital to do that!’

Surendranagar’s Prakashbhai tells me. When I had met him last, some 1.5 years ago, he used to walk around to collect trash in an oversized shoulder bag, and now he aspired to expand his business. I was a little surprised at his plans!

Last year we gave Prakashbhai and other Nathbawa families who collected trash on their shoulders paddle rickshaws as part of our tool/livelihood support initiative. The amount of junk they can carry in a rickshaw is much more than they can lug over their shoulders. In fact,  the paddle rickshaw proved to be a game-changer.

These families could cover 3-4 kilometers on foot, but the paddle rickshaw enabled them to travel across 10-12 kilometers to gather trash. The increase in collected trash means their income also increased. Many families then bought an auto-rickshaw so that they could travel even farther. Prakashbhai also bought a rickshaw and got his house repaired. The economics of scale works well for these small-income earners. With more trash on hand, they could wait and let the pile grow and sell in bulk and earn more income.

Prakashbhai is a fast learner and quickly understands the tricks of the trade. This business promises a good income, but I need to be capable of holding the stock; if the need arises, I also should be able to loan money to people I buy trash from, and selling it all to an appropriate place will only ensure a good income.

I was thrilled to listen to Prakashbhai’s informed talks; he, too, had begun to dream big to broaden his horizon.

It may seem insignificant, but it helped us learn the importance of small support and the dreams it can inspire.

Of course, we want Prakashbhai’s dreams to come true, and we will support to make that happen.

'ભંગારનો ધંધો મોટો કરવો છે.. પણ એ માટે રોકાણ વાઘેર જોઈએ.'

સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં રહેતા પ્રકાશભાઈએ આ કહ્યું. આમ તો એકાદ દોઢ વર્ષ પહેલાં એ મળ્યા ત્યારે તો એ ખભા પર કોથળો લઈને ભંગાર ભેગુ કરતા. એમાંથી સીધા ભંગારનો ડેલો કરવાનો વિચાર!

વાત જાણે એમ બની...પ્રકાશભાઈ જેવા કેટલાક નાથબાવા પરિવારો કે જેઓ ખભા પર કોથળો લઈ ભંગાર ભેગુ કરવાનું કરે તેમને અમે પેડલ રીક્ષા આપી. પેડલ પર ભંગાર વધારે ભેગું થઈ શકે. ખભા પર કોથળો લઈને ભેગુ કરવામાં મર્યાદા આવી જાય માટે. 

પણ આ પેડલે તો કમાલ કરી દીધી. પગે ચાલીને બે ચાર કિ.મી. ફરી શકાય પણ પેડલ આવતા ભંગાર બેગુ કરવા દસ બાર કી.મી. દૂર જઈ શકાય. વળી ભેગુ પણ વધારે થાય આમ આવક ઘણી વધી. લોકો વધારે દૂર જઈ શકાય એ માટે જૂનામાંથી રીક્ષા લાવ્યા. પ્રકાશભાઈ પણ રીક્ષા લાવ્યા. ઘર પણ ઠીક ઠાક કરાવ્યું.

પહેલાં જે ભંગાર ભેગો થતો તે ઘર ચલાવવા સંદર્ભે વેચી દેવો પડતો હવે ભંગાર વધારે પ્રમાણમાં ભેગો કરીને પછી વેચે છે જેથી એમને વધારે સારો ભાવ મળે છે.

આમ પ્રકાશભાઈને હવે ઘંઘો સમજાઈ રહ્યો છે એમણે કહ્યું, 'આમાં આવક છે. પણ બસ ભંગાર ઝાઝો ભેગો કરીને રાખી શકવાની ક્ષમતા જોઈએ સાથે જેમની પાસેથી આપણે ભંગાર લઈએ એમને ઉપાડ આપવો પડે અને ભંગારની વસ્તુઓના જ્યાં સારા ભાવ મળે ત્યાં એ આપવાનું કરીએ તો પૈસા સારા મળે.'

પ્રકાશભાઈની વાત સાંભળી રાજી થવાયું. એમની આંખો સ્વપ્ન જોતી થઈ એ પણ ગમ્યું. 

આમ તો વાત નાનકડી છે. પણ કોઈને નાનકડી મદદ કરીએ તો એ કેવા સ્વપ્ન જુએ એ પ્રકાશભાઈના કિસ્સામાં સમજાયું. 

બસ એમનું સ્વપ્ન ફળે તે માટે પણ મદદ કરીશું.
