Mittal Patel meets nomadic families of Vadodara

Sanjaybhai Nat from Vadodara is a hardworking and talented artist. The dhol and shehnai are traditional instruments linked to his ancestral profession — they are what give him his identity as a Nat. Although he possessed the skill, he didn’t have enough money to buy his own instruments. Because of this, instead of performing independently, he would join a relative’s team in Surendranagar.

One day, he learned that KRSF and VSSM provide loans to people who want to start their own small businesses. He contacted our Vadodara volunteer, Sunil, and took his first loan, with which he bought 20 dhols. Later, with a second loan, he purchased shehnais and proper uniforms for his team.

Today, Sanjaybhai has his own independent team. He receives orders and performs programs across Vadodara district and many other regions.

He says,“The organization breathed life into my career. I can never forget this support. Otherwise, who gives loans based on trust alone!”

Through the initiative of KRSF and VSSM, more than 12,000 families today run their own independent livelihoods and have become self-reliant.

We feel immense joy in becoming instruments of change in the lives of many like Sanjaybhai.

વડોદરાના સંજયભાઈ નટ, મહેનતકશ અને પ્રતિભાશાળી કલાકાર. ઢોલ અને શરણાઈ એમના પરંપરાગત ધંધા સાથે જોડાયેલા સાધન, જે એમને નટ તરીકેની ઓળખ આપે. સંજયભાઈ પાસે આ કળા તો હતી, પણ સાધન ખરીદવા માટે પૈસા નહોતાં. તેથી સ્વતંત્ર રીતે વગાડવા જવાની જગ્યાએ, તેઓ સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં રહેતા સગાની ટીમમાં વગાડવા જતા.

એક દિવસ તેમને ખબર પડી કે KRSF અને VSSM એવા લોકોને લોન આપે છે, જે પોતાનો સ્વતંત્ર ધંધો શરૂ કરવા માંગે છે. એમણે વડોદરાના અમારા કાર્યકર સુનીલનો સંપર્ક કર્યો અને પ્રથમ લોન લીધી જેમાંથી એમણે 20 ઢોલ ખરીદ્યા. એ પછી બીજી લોનથી શરણાઈ અને પોતાની ટીમ માટે સરસ યુનિફોર્મ લીધાં.

આજે સંજયભાઈ પાસે પોતાની ટીમ છે. તેઓ વડોદરા જિલ્લા સહિત અનેક વિસ્તારોમાં સ્વતંત્ર રીતે ઓર્ડર લઈને પ્રોગ્રામ કરવા જાય છે. એમણે કહે, "સંસ્થાએ મારા જીવનમાં પ્રાણ ફૂંક્યા. એનું ઋણ હું ક્યારેય ન ભૂલુ. બાકી અમારા પર ભરોસો કરીને લોન આપવાનું કોણ કરે!" 

KRSF અને VSSM ની પહેલથી 12,000 થી વધુ પરિવારો આજે પોતાનો સ્વતંત્ર ધંધો કરી સ્વાવલંબી બન્યા છે. સંજયભાઈ જેવા અનેકોના જીવનમાં નિમિત્ત બન્યાનો અમને આનંદ..

"Singing lullabies and devotional sons on the tunes of our ravanhatta was our profession; it brought us alms in return. However, people now equate it with begging and advise us to work instead. We weren't beggars; in the past, people appreciated our flair for playing the instrument and singing and rewarded us in cash or kind. Things are very different now; hence, we have stopped playing ravanhattha." Haribhai living in Banaskantha's Chadotar shared with a heavy heart.

Inspired by the Bajaniya community's knack for selling fashion accessories and artificial jewelry, Haribhai decided to switch occupations. With a meager investment of Rs.1000, he brought some products and began selling them by walking to various villages. However, walking and covering more than two villages daily is difficult, so Haribhai bought a bicycle from his savings. Now he cycles almost 50 kilometers in a day for work.

These days people cycle to remain fit while humans like Haribhai cycle for work. Fifty kilometers is a considerable distance, but Haribhai manages to do so. The earnings help feed the family, but more funds are needed for business expansion.

Since VSSM has known these families well, on Haribhai's request, we loaned him Rs. 30000, which enabled him to procure products at wholesale rates and double and occasionally triple his monthly income. Haribhai utilized the increased income to repair the house and save for his daughter's wedding.

He was delighted to meet us, and while he continued to cycle his way across the villages, a motorbike would help him cover more distance. Hence, once he pays off the current loan, he wishes to opt for another loan to buy a motorbike.

We have always wanted these families to dream big and work hard to fulfill those dreams; therefore, it is obvious we will be providing him with another loan.

We wish Haribhai happiness and pray to God for his prosperity.

"અમારો ધંધો ઓમ તો મોગવાનો. રાવણ હથ્થા પર હાલરડાં, ભજન ગઈયે અન લોકો અમન રાજી કર્. પણ બુન પેલાં આ બધુ હેડતુ હવ્ મારા જેવાન્ જોઈન લોકો કોમ કરવાની સલાહ આલ્. ઓમ જુઓ તો અમે કોય ભીખ નતા મોગતા. રાવણહથ્થો વગાડીએ અન લોકો ખુશ થઈન બે પોચ રૃપિયા, હાડી(સાડી), દોણા આલતા. પણ હવ પેલા જેવું નઈ રયું. તે અમેય રાવળહથ્થો મેલ્યો. "

બનાસકાંઠાના ચડોતરમાં રહેતા હરીભાઈએ ભારે હૈયે કહ્યું. શૃંગાર પ્રસાધનો વેચવાનું કામ બજાણિયા સમુદાયો કરે. એમને જોઈને હરીભાઈને પણ પોતે આ કામ કરી શકશે એમ લાગ્યું ને એમણે હજાર રૃપિયાનો સામાન લાવી પગપાળા વિવિધ ગામોમાં ફરીને વેચવાનું ચાલુ કર્યું. 

પગે ચાલી ઝાઝા ગામ ફરી ન શકાય ને વાહનોમાં બેસીને ફરવાનું એમને પોષાય નહીં. આખરે એમણે થોડી ઘણી બચત કરી સાયકલ ખરીદી.. આ સાયકલ પર ક્યારેક એ દિવસના પચાસ કી.મી. ધંધા માટે ફરે. 

લોકો પોતાની તબીયત સારી રહે એ માટે આજે સાયકીંગ કરતા જોવા મળે. પણ હરીભાઈ ધંધા માટે કરે. પચાસ કી.મી. એ કાંઈ ઓછુ અંતર નથી. પણ ખેર એ કરે.

આમ થોડુ ઘણું મળતર મળે ને પરિવારનું ગુજરાન ચાલે. એમને ધંધો વધારવો હતો. વધુ સામાન એ પણ હોલસેલમાં ખરીદવો હતો પણ એ માટે પાસે પૈસા નહીં.

VSSM સાથે આ પરિવારો વર્ષોથી સંકળાયેલા. આખરે એમણે અમને લોન આપવા વાત કરીને અમે ત્રીસ હજાર આપ્યા. વધુ સામાન આવ્યો. આવક સીધી બમણી તો ક્યારેક બમણાથીયે વધી. જેમાંથી એમણે ઘર ઠીકઠીક કર્યું. દીકરીના લગ્ન માટે પણ એમણે પૈસા ભેગા કર્યા.

અમે જ્યારે એમને મળ્યા ત્યારે એ ખુબ રાજી હતા. એ હજુ સાયકલ પર ફરે. જો બાઈક મળે તો વધુ ગામ ફરી શકાય. ને ક્યારેક દૂર જવું હોય તો પણ જવાય. તે એમણે આ ત્રીસ હજારની લોન પતે પછી બાઈક માટે લોન આપવા કહ્યું.

આપવાની જ હોય. આ બધા પરિવારો સ્વપ્ન જોતા થાય એતો વર્ષોથી ઈચ્છીએ..

બસ હરીભાઈ સુખી થાય એમ ઈચ્છીએ.. ને ઈશ્વર તેમને ખુબ બરકત આપે તે માટે પ્રાર્થના..

Imagine a third grader taking up a job as a farm worker, which means he must have been eight years old then and had to give up school to earn a living! Tough to comprehend why he was required to do so. This is the story of Mukeshbhai from  Banaskantha’s Ruppura, whose father’s illness compelled him to give up his education and join the workforce. Who employs an eight-year-old would be an obvious question, but that is a discussion for another time.

At this young age, Mukeshbhai had decided to free himself from this bondage, but the conditions never turned favourable. He continued to work as a bhagiya labor even after getting married. One day he learned about VSSM’s interest-free loan initiative to support small-scale independent business ventures. Mukeshbhai knew VSSM’s Pareshbhai; he requested a loan to purchase a cow. He bought a cow from Rs. 30,000 we loaned. The couple worked hard to earn a decent living.

It has been five years since the first loan, and Mukeshbhai has continued to repay and take new loans. Today, five years later, he has five cows, an auto rickshaw, a motorbike, and much more.

Mukeshbhai considers VSSM’s money blessed with the goodwill of people who have wished good for others. Hence, according to him, the progress he made was but obvious.

It is not just the excellent money but his intent to repay the loan and be regular with instalments that have brought him success.

I am glad our team members practice caution and identify not just deserving but honest individuals.

The interest-free loan initiative has helped 6200 families until now, many of whom have raised their independent businesses to successful ventures.

We are grateful for the continued support of our well-wishing donors whose contribution has strengthened the lives of thousands of families.

ત્રીજા ધોરણમાં ભણતો વ્યક્તિ કોઈ ખેડૂતના ત્યાં સાથી કે ભાગિયા તરીકે નોકરીએ લાગી જાય! 

આ વાત વિચારવી પણ અઘરી પડે ને?  એ વખતે એ વ્યક્તિની ઉંમર 8 વર્ષની થાય. આટલી નાની ઉંમરમાં એણે મહેનત મજૂરીના કામમાં ભણવાનું પડતું મુકી કેમ જોડાવવું પડ્યું એ પ્રશ્ન સાહજિક થાય.

વાત બનાસકાંઠાના રૃપપુરાના મુકેશભાઈની..પિતાની બિમારીના લીધે એમને નાની ઉંમરથી કામે લાગવું પડ્યું. સવાલ આવડા નાના છોકરાને કામે રાખનાર સામે પણ થાય પણ ખેર એ પાછો જુદો વિષય.

પણ મુકેશભાઈએ એ વખતે જ મનમાં ગુલામીમાંથી મુક્ત થવાનો નિર્ધાર કરી રાખેલો. જો કે સંજોગો સાથ નહોતો આપતા. મોટા થયા, લગ્ન થયા પછી પણ એ ભાગિયા તરીકે જ કામ કરતા. 

ત્યાં અચાનક એમને VSSMમાંથી સ્વતંત્ર ધંધો કરવાની ખેવના રાખનારને લોન આપતા હોવાની ખબર પડી. અમારા કાર્યકર પરેશના એ પરિચયમાં. એમણે પરેશ પાસે ગાય ખરીદવા લોન માંગી. અને અમે ત્રીસ હજાર આપ્યા. એ એક ગાય લાવ્યા. પતિ પત્ની બેઉએ મહેનત કરવા માંડી. 

અમે આ લોન પાંચ વર્ષ પહેલાં આપેલી. એ પછી એ એક પછી એમ લોન લેતા ગયા પણ એમણે વ્યવહાર બરાબર સાચવ્યો. આજે પાંચ વર્ષના અંતે એમની પાસે પાંચ ગાયો, રીક્ષા, બાઈક ને બીજુયે ઘણું...

મુકેશભાઈને સંસ્થાનો પૈસો બરકતનો લાગે. એ કહે, એમાં કેટલાય લોકોની શુભભાવના ભળેલી એટલે પ્રગતિ થઈ.

મને લાગે બરકતનો પૈસો તો ખરો પણ એ બધામાં એમની મહેનત અને લીધેલા પૈસા સમયસર પરત આપવાની એમની દાનતના લીધે એ સફળ થયા. 

અમારા કાર્યકર પરેશે આવા મહેનતકશ લોકોને શોધ્યા એનો આનંદ.. 

અત્યાર સુધી અમે 6200 થી વધુ પરિવારોને લોન આપી છે. જેમાંના ઘણા ખરા સ્વતંત્ર ધંધો કરી સરસ આવક રળતા થઈ ગયા..બસ આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરનાર સ્વજનોનો આભાર ને જેમને લોન મળી છે તે પરિવારોને સુખી થાવની શુભભાવના...
