“I am wondering how did you gather Rs. 8 lacs!”
“Five years ago, a loan of Rs. 10,000 - 20,000 sanctioned by you helped me initiate the business of selling cosmetics and accessories, I kept paying and taking new loans to expand my business. The support helped me save this money, buy a vehicle and meet all the social expenses.
Ravjibhai resides in Rajkot’s Chunarawad. The loan offered by VSSM helped his wife set up a workstation along the roadside for selling fashion accessories and likes. They continued making goof profits and expanding the business with multiple loans from VSSM. Today, they have sell products at wholesale rates from their home. Other retailers buy products from him on credit or at cheaper rates. Ravjibhai intends to help others earn a decent livelihood.
Ravjibhai’s son Devabhai many not have gone to school all the way but is very smart. He works at a hosiery shop, from here he learnt to make online purchases. Ravjibhai now procures blankets from Panipat, children’s clothing from Tamil Nadu and the business is doing good.
While I was in Rajkot, Ravjibhai had come to meet me and talk about the loan for a shop, he showed me the images of products he sells.
Ravjibhai has had very humble beginnings, but he can now support five others. Similar to him are Khodubhai, Jagmalbhai, Chetanbhai.
During the lockdown, Khodubhai did not request for ration kits in his settlement, the families that needed support received help from these individuals whose financial well-being has grown.
“Ben, this is our takeaway from our affiliation with you. We need to cultivate the understanding that you have,” Khodubhai had called up to assure that things will be fine in their settlement.
Such conversations do brighten up my day.
Ravjibhai will have a shop of his own for sure.
“Ben, that goes without saying!!” Ravjibhai responded when we wished him growth and prosperity and the will to continue helping those in need.
These Kangasiya community leaders are doing just fine on their own. I have always believed that once a person becomes economically sound he/she can find answers to many challenges they face. Ravjibhai also has been able to do that.
Our Kanubhai and Chayaben have played a crucial role in mentoring the mindsets of these communities.
'બેન રાજકોટમાં જ પાઘડીથી 10 લાખમાં દુકાન મળશે. આઠ લાખ જેવા ભેરા થઈ ગ્યા સે. બે લાખ ખુટે સે. થોડા નાતના આગેવાનો દેશે થોડા સંસ્થામાંથી મલે તો દુકાન થઈ જાય..'
'દુકાન તો બરાબર પણ આઠ લાખ ભેગા કેવી રીતે કર્યા?'
રવજીભાઈએ કહ્યું, 'તમે ચાર પાંચ વર્ષ પહેલાં દીધેલી દસ- વીસ હજારની લોનથી બંગળી, બોરિયા, બકલ વેચવાનો ધંધો વધારતો ગ્યો અને ધંધામાં જીમ જીમ જરૃર પડી તમારી કનેથી લોન લેતો ગ્યો તે આજ આટલી મૂડી ભેગી થઈ ગઈ. ઘરનું સાધનેય થઈ ગ્યું. પ્રસંગોય નીહરી રયા સે...'
રાજકોટમાં ચુનારાવાડમાં રવજીભાઈ રહે. એમના પત્ની રાજકોટમાં જ એક જગ્યાએ પથારો પાથરીને બોરિયા, બકલ વગેરે વેચે. રવજીભાઈ અમારી પાસેથી લોન લેતા ગયા અને ધંધો વધારતા ગયા. આજે પોતાના ઘરમાં જ એમણે હોલસેલની સરસ દુકાન કરી છે. જ્યાંથી તે અન્ય નાના ફેરિયાને બજાર ભાવ કરતા થોડી ઓછી કિંમતે, ઘણી વખત ઊધારીમાં સામાન આપે. જેથી કોઈ રોજી રળી શકે..
એમનો દિકરો દેવાભાઈ ભણ્યો ઓછુ. પણ સમજણ જબરી. એ હોઝીયરીની દુકાનમાં નોકરી કરે. ત્યાંથી તે ઓનલાઈન સામાન મંગાવવાનું શીખ્યો.
રવજીભાઈ હવે પાણીપતથી ધાબડા, તો તમીલનાડુથી નાના બાળકોના કપડાં મંગાવે છે અને વેચે છે. જેમાં વકરો ઘણો સારો થાય છે.
હું રાજકોટ ગઈ તે રવજીભાઈ મારી સાથે દુકાનની વાત કરવા આવ્યા અને ફોનમાં તેઓ શાનો વેપાર કરે છે તેના ફોટો બતાવ્યા..
સાવ સામાન્ય સ્થિતિમાંથી આજે પાંચ જણને મદદ કરે એ સ્થિતિમાં રવજીભાઈ, ખોડુભાઈ, જગમાલબાપા, ચેતનભાઈ વગેરે પહોંચી ગયા છે.
લોકડાઉન વખતે ખોડુભાઈએ અમારી પાસે એમની વસાહતમાં રહેતા એક પણ કાંગસિયા પરિવાર માટે રાશનકીટ નહોતી માંગી. જે ચાર, પાંચ જણા થોડા સક્ષમ થયા. એમણે લોકડાઉનના કપરા કાળમાં ગરીબ પરિવારોને સાચવી લીધા...
પાછુ ફોન કરીને ખોડુ ભાઈએ કહ્યું પણ ખરુ, 'બેન તમારી સાથે રહીએ એટલે આટલી સમજતો કેળવાવવી જ જોઈએ ને?'
આવું સાંભળુ ત્યારે રાજીપો થાય..
રવજીભાઈની દુકાન થવાની એ નક્કી..
ખુબ પ્રગતિ કરો અને તકલીફમાં હોય તેવા સૌની મદદ કરોની ભાવના રવજીભાઈ આગળ વ્યક્ત કરી તો એમણે કહ્યું, 'એમાં કહેવું નો પડે બેન...'
જો કે એમની રીતે આ કાંગસિયા આગેવાનો સરસ કરી રહ્યા છે...
માણસ આર્થિક રીતે સદ્ધર થાય તો એના ઘણો પ્રશ્નોનો નિવેડો આપ મેળે આવી જાય... રવજીભાઈ જેવા કેટલાયનાય કિસ્સામાં અમે આ જોયું છે...
આ બધામાં સમજણ અને સાથ અમારા કનુભાઈ છાયાબહેનનો...
