Haribhai Bajaniya sharing his thoughts with Mittal Patel

"Singing lullabies and devotional sons on the tunes of our ravanhatta was our profession; it brought us alms in return. However, people now equate it with begging and advise us to work instead. We weren't beggars; in the past, people appreciated our flair for playing the instrument and singing and rewarded us in cash or kind. Things are very different now; hence, we have stopped playing ravanhattha." Haribhai living in Banaskantha's Chadotar shared with a heavy heart.

Inspired by the Bajaniya community's knack for selling fashion accessories and artificial jewelry, Haribhai decided to switch occupations. With a meager investment of Rs.1000, he brought some products and began selling them by walking to various villages. However, walking and covering more than two villages daily is difficult, so Haribhai bought a bicycle from his savings. Now he cycles almost 50 kilometers in a day for work.

These days people cycle to remain fit while humans like Haribhai cycle for work. Fifty kilometers is a considerable distance, but Haribhai manages to do so. The earnings help feed the family, but more funds are needed for business expansion.

Since VSSM has known these families well, on Haribhai's request, we loaned him Rs. 30000, which enabled him to procure products at wholesale rates and double and occasionally triple his monthly income. Haribhai utilized the increased income to repair the house and save for his daughter's wedding.

He was delighted to meet us, and while he continued to cycle his way across the villages, a motorbike would help him cover more distance. Hence, once he pays off the current loan, he wishes to opt for another loan to buy a motorbike.

We have always wanted these families to dream big and work hard to fulfill those dreams; therefore, it is obvious we will be providing him with another loan.

"અમારો ધંધો ઓમ તો મોગવાનો. રાવણ હથ્થા પર હાલરડાં, ભજન ગઈયે અન લોકો અમન રાજી કર્. પણ બુન પેલાં આ બધુ હેડતુ હવ્ મારા જેવાન્ જોઈન લોકો કોમ કરવાની સલાહ આલ્. ઓમ જુઓ તો અમે કોય ભીખ નતા મોગતા. રાવણહથ્થો વગાડીએ અન લોકો ખુશ થઈન બે પોચ રૃપિયા, હાડી(સાડી), દોણા આલતા. પણ હવ પેલા જેવું નઈ રયું. તે અમેય રાવળહથ્થો મેલ્યો. "

બનાસકાંઠાના ચડોતરમાં રહેતા હરીભાઈએ ભારે હૈયે કહ્યું. શૃંગાર પ્રસાધનો વેચવાનું કામ બજાણિયા સમુદાયો કરે. એમને જોઈને હરીભાઈને પણ પોતે આ કામ કરી શકશે એમ લાગ્યું ને એમણે હજાર રૃપિયાનો સામાન લાવી પગપાળા વિવિધ ગામોમાં ફરીને વેચવાનું ચાલુ કર્યું. 

પગે ચાલી ઝાઝા ગામ ફરી ન શકાય ને વાહનોમાં બેસીને ફરવાનું એમને પોષાય નહીં. આખરે એમણે થોડી ઘણી બચત કરી સાયકલ ખરીદી.. આ સાયકલ પર ક્યારેક એ દિવસના પચાસ કી.મી. ધંધા માટે ફરે. 

લોકો પોતાની તબીયત સારી રહે એ માટે આજે સાયકીંગ કરતા જોવા મળે. પણ હરીભાઈ ધંધા માટે કરે. પચાસ કી.મી. એ કાંઈ ઓછુ અંતર નથી. પણ ખેર એ કરે.

આમ થોડુ ઘણું મળતર મળે ને પરિવારનું ગુજરાન ચાલે. એમને ધંધો વધારવો હતો. વધુ સામાન એ પણ હોલસેલમાં ખરીદવો હતો પણ એ માટે પાસે પૈસા નહીં.

VSSM સાથે આ પરિવારો વર્ષોથી સંકળાયેલા. આખરે એમણે અમને લોન આપવા વાત કરીને અમે ત્રીસ હજાર આપ્યા. વધુ સામાન આવ્યો. આવક સીધી બમણી તો ક્યારેક બમણાથીયે વધી. જેમાંથી એમણે ઘર ઠીકઠીક કર્યું. દીકરીના લગ્ન માટે પણ એમણે પૈસા ભેગા કર્યા.

અમે જ્યારે એમને મળ્યા ત્યારે એ ખુબ રાજી હતા. એ હજુ સાયકલ પર ફરે. જો બાઈક મળે તો વધુ ગામ ફરી શકાય. ને ક્યારેક દૂર જવું હોય તો પણ જવાય. તે એમણે આ ત્રીસ હજારની લોન પતે પછી બાઈક માટે લોન આપવા કહ્યું.

આપવાની જ હોય. આ બધા પરિવારો સ્વપ્ન જોતા થાય એતો વર્ષોથી ઈચ્છીએ..

બસ હરીભાઈ સુખી થાય એમ ઈચ્છીએ.. ને ઈશ્વર તેમને ખુબ બરકત આપે તે માટે પ્રાર્થના..

Vipulbhai sharing his story with Mittal Patel

If one knows the correct way to use it, Facebook too has advantages and it is something we recently experienced when Vipulbhai from Radhanpur’s Amirpura shared his story with us.

The stories I share on our Facebook account talk about the work VSSM does with the marginalised communities, the stories people share and our learnings from it. The stories help us make you all part of our journey.

Sometime back I had shared the success story of Lilabhai. VSSM had provided him with an interest-free loan to help him begin his independent venture. Radhabpur’s Ganpatbhai Joshi happened to read the post and contacted us with a request to provide a loan to a young fellow from Amirpura, interested in starting his own business. I put him in touch with our Shankarbhai, which he did. This led to our meeting Vipulbhai Rana who worked as an assistant tailor with someone else’s shop. He has had aspirations to have his shop and stock ready-made garments but lack of funds impaired him to realise his aspirations. VSSM’s interest-free loan program is that ray of home for individuals likes people like Vipulbhai achieve their dreams and aspirations. Thousands of individuals has succeeded in their ventures after receiving interest-free loans from VSSM.

We have neither known Vipulbhai or Ganapatbhai for long hence Shankarbhai had to brief them about the loan protocol which Vipulbhai complied to. The twenty thousand rupees loan helped him stock ready-made salwar-kurta, selling them was his additional income apart from his tailoring job. The business grew and he had to employ an additional person for tailoring jobs. Vipulbhai began earning more and paid the instalments on time, we never had to remind him of his instalment dates.

Vipulbhai dreams of expanding his business. Since hard work and passion drives him,  I am sure the universe will conspire and help him achieve his dreams.

Yes, we get anxious loaning money to individuals we don’t know yet. But these are heuristic ways of helping the unknown and the universe does support our endeavours.

And we are grateful to Vipulbhai and Ganapatbhai for upholding our faith in them.

વાત રાધનપુરના અમીરપુરાગામના વિપુલભાઈની...

વંચિતો અને વિચરતી જાતિઓ માટે જે કાર્યો કરીએ તેની વાત ફેસબુક પર લખુ. રાધનપુર પાસે રહેતા લીલાભાઈને અમે સ્વતંત્ર ધંધા માટે લોન આપેલી ને એમની તરક્કીની વાત મે ફેસબુક પર લખી. એ વખતે રાધનપુર વિસ્તારમાં રહેતા ગણપતભાઈ જોષીએ પોસ્ટ વાંચી ને સ્વતંત્ર વ્યવસાય કરવાની ધગશ રાખતા અમીરપુરાગામના એક યુવાનને લોન આપવા તેમણે કહ્યું. 

મે એમને અમારા કાર્યકર શંકરભાઈનો સંપર્ક કરવા કહ્યું ને શંકરભાઈને એ મળ્યા. એ પછી લોન લઈને જેઓ પોતાનો વ્યવસાય વધારવા ઈચ્છતા તે વિપુલભાઈ રાણા અમારા સંપર્કમાં આવ્યા. 

વિપુલભાઈ બીજાની દુકાનમાં સીલાઈ કામ કરે. પોતાની દુકાન કરવાની ને સાથે તૈયાર કપડાં રાખવાની એષણા ખરી પણ પાસે પૈસા નહીં.. 

અમારો લોન પ્રોગ્રામ પોતાના સ્વપ્ન કારગત કરવાની ખેવના રાખનાર માટે આશાનું કીરણ જેવો..

કેટલાય વ્યક્તિઓએ VSSMમાંથી લોન લઈને ધંધો શરૃ કર્યો ને આજે તેઓની ગાડી બરાબર પાડે ચડી ગઈ છે...

વિપુલભાઈ સાથે ને આમ જુઓ તો ગણપતભાઈ સાથેય તે અમારો એવો કોઈ લાંબો પરિચય નહીં પણ શંકરભાઈએ લોન આપતા પહેલાં વ્યવહાર બરાબર રાખવાની વાત યોગ્ય કરેલી ને વિપુલભાઈએ વાટકી વ્યવહાર બરાબર જાળવ્યો પણ ખરા. 

વીસ હજારની લોનમાંથી એ તૈયાર ડ્રેસ લાવ્યા. સિલાઈ કામની સાથે ડ્રેસનો વેપાર એ કરે. ધંધો વધ્યો હવે એમણે સિલાઈ માટે એક બીજો કારીગર પણ રાખ્યો, જેથી કામની ગતિ વધે..  લોનના હપ્તા ભરવા વિપુલભાઈને ક્યારેય ફોન નથી કરવો પડ્યો... 

વિપુલભાઈનું સ્વપ્ન ધંધો વધુ મોટો કરવાનું છે.. કુદરત એ પણ કરાવશે.. મૂળ તો નિષ્ઠા ને પાછી મહેનતની ધગશ બેઉ છે માટે..

અજાણ્યા સાથે વ્યવહાર કરતા હંમેશાં ડર લાગે.. પણ વસુદૈવ કુટુંબ કમઃમાં માનુ ને ક્યારેક આવા અખતરા કરુ. જો કે કુદરત આ અખતરા સમા સુતરા પાર પાડે છે.. 

વિપુલભાઈને ગણપતભાઈ બેઉનો આભાર મૂળ આ શ્રદ્ધા ટકાવી રાખવા માટે...

The happiness of these families 

 Greetings to the loved ones who helped the families like Navghanbhai, Karashanbhai, Gelabhai when they were in trouble. 

You refused to say anything about it, not to give names. Of these, we abide by the fact of not giving a name. I am writing the rest of this incident because some of the helpers ask so many questions that we get tired. And you did not ask any question to our worker Kanubhai.

A few days ago, I wrote on Facebook that Gadlia families living in Harbatiyali like Navghanbhai, Gelabhai were having difficulty in repaying the loan taken from VSSM.

Somewhere he said that these families are in trouble. Kanubhai, our worker called to get the loan installment and he said, “I will come to Rajkot tomorrow”.

Kanubhai said, “I am in your area. I can come and get it so that you need not have to come to me.”

But he refused. After lots of arguments, it finally came out of his mouth that tomorrow he will have to sell jewelry or place a mortgage to Rajkot jewellers and pay the loan installment.

We told him not to do that but here he was worried about his reputation. VSSM gave the money with trust, if he misses the installment, it will not look good. I wrote about the feelings of poor people here and some friends whom I have never met talked to our worker Kanubhai to pay the loan installment of these families.

We collected Rs. 12,500 and gave it.

The only true religion as a human being is to help those in distress.

You all did your part well and trusted us. Bow to you.

નવઘણભાઈ, કરશનભાઈ, ગેલાભાઈ  જેવા આફતમાં આવી પડેલા પરિવારોને મદદ કરનાર પ્રિયજનો આપને પ્રણામ...

આપે આ વિષે કશું કહેવાની, નામ ન આપવાની ના પાડેલી. એમાંથી નામ ન આપવાની વાતને અકબંધ પાળીએ છીએ.. બાકી આ ઘટના એટલા માટે લખુ છુ કારણ મદદ કરવાવાળા કેટલાક એટલા પ્રશ્નો પૂછે કે થાકી જવાય. ત્યારે તમે આડો અવળો એકેય પ્રશ્ન અમારા કાર્યકર કનુભાઈને નથી પૂછ્યો..

થોડા દિવસ પહેલાં ફેસબુક પર મે નવઘણભાઈ, ગેલાભાઈ જેવા હરબટિયાળીમાં રહેતા ગાડલિયા પરિવારોને VSSM પાસેથી લીધેલી લોન ભરવામાં તકલીફ પડી રહ્યાની વાત લખી હતી. 

આ પરિવારોએ તો તકલીફ પડે છે એવુંયે ક્યાંક કહ્યું હતું, કનુભાઈ અમારા કાર્યકરે લોનનો હપ્તો લેવા માટે ફોન કર્યો ને એમણે કહ્યું, 'કાલે રાજકોટ દેવા આવશું..'

કનુભાઈએ કહ્યું, 'હું તમારા વિસ્તારમાં છું. તમારે ધક્કો ન ખાવો પડે એટલે આવીને લઈ જાવ'

પણ એમણે ના પાડી. ઘણી રકઝક ચાલી છેવટે એમના મોંઢામાંથી નીકળી ગયું કે કાલે રાજકોટ હોનીને ત્યાં દાગીના વેચી કે ગીરો મૂકીને લોનના હપ્તા ભરવાના છે..

અમે એમ ન કરવા કહ્યું પણ અહીંયા એમને એમની શાખની ચિંતા હતી. કેટલા ભરોષે પૈસા આપ્યા છે હપ્તા ચુકીએ તો હારુ નો લાગે...ગરીબ માણસોની ભાવનાની વાત અહીંયા લખી ને કેટલાક મિત્રો જેમને હું ક્યારેય મળી નથી તેમણે આ પરિવારોનો લોનનો હપ્તો ભરવા પૈસા ભેગા કરવાનું અમારા કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ સાથે વાત કરીને કર્યું.

12,500 એમણે ભેગા કરીને આપી દીધા... 

માણસ તરીકેનો ખરો ધર્મ જ આફતમાં આવી પડેલાને મદદ કરવાનો.. 

આપ સૌએ આ ધર્મ બરાબર નિભાવ્યો.. અમારા પર ભરોષો કર્યો...
