Is it not risky to give a loan to a person who has gone bankrupt.?

It is risky but I did not find Lalabhai cunning. We have been helping such families for many years. Then why not Lalabhai ?

Our associate Paresh, young & enthusiastic, has been with us since he was 18-19 years old. He told us about Lalabhai and we could feel that Paresh has imbibed the culture of service.

Lalabhai stays in Ghodiyal village of Banaskantha. He became a graduate. However he had immense love for Cows.. It was his desire to build a cowshed. He borrowed money and bought four cows. The place where he used to tie the cows caught fire and all the cows were killed.  Paresh realised this and extended a loan of Rs 40,000. Lalabhai bought a cow out of this. This cow was grazing in the field. It did not see the well in the middle and fell in it and drowned & died. Our loan instalments got stalled. Moreover he was also not able to pay the private lender. 

What to do now ? When Lalabhai was asked this question, he asked for a loan. to buy a cow. The cow business was not very favourable to Lalabhai. So he decided to do something else. He challenged nature that you give me troubles I will not lose my hope  & my strength.

Lalabhai had gone bankrupt and in such a condition, Paresh had faith in Lalabhai and gave him a loan again. Again Lalabhai got a cow. He paid off one loan and he again got another loan and bought another cow. Today he has three cows. Apart from this he gives milk to the dairy collection and from whatever profit he makes he buys & sells cows out of it. Gradually his loan also got repaid.      

People normally get dejected if they do not succeed. and gives up the work he was good at. But if he persists he may succeed 

Lalabhai persisted. His intentions were good. He succeeded. 

We can learn from Lalabhai how to fight against failures and win.

'દેવાળિયું ફૂક્યું હોય એવા વ્યક્તિને લોન આપવાનું સાહસ કરવું જોખમી ન ગણાય?'

'જોખમી તો ગણાય. પણ મને લાલાભાઈ લુચ્ચા ન લાગ્યા અને આપણે આવા પરિવારોને બેઠા કરવાનું વર્ષોથી કરીએ તો લાલાભાઈને કેમ નહીં?'

કાર્યકર પરેશ.. યુવાન અને ઉત્સાહી.. એ 18-19 વર્ષનો હતો ત્યારેથી અમારી સાથે જોડાયેલો. એણે આ વાત કરી એનાથી સેવાના સંસ્કાર એનામાં બરાબર ઉતર્યાનું લાગ્યું.

લાલાભાઈ બનાસકાંઠાના ઘોડિયાલમાં રહે. સ્નાતક થયા. પણ એમને ગાયો માટે ઘણો પ્રેમ. એમની ઈચ્છા ગાયોનો તબેલો કરવાની. એમણે વ્યાજવા પૈસા લઈને ચાર ગાય લાવ્યા. જે વાડામાં ગાયો બાંધતા ત્યાં આગ લાગીને લાલાભાઈ ત્યાં પહોંચી બધુ થાળે પાડે તે પહેલાં ગાયો ભસ્મીભૂત થઈ ગઈ. 

અમારા પરેશને આ ખ્યાલ આવ્યો એણે લાલાભાઈને 40,000ની લોન VSSM માંથી અપાવી. લાલાભાઈ એમાંથી ગાય લાવ્યા.

આ ગાય ખેતરમાં ચરિયાણ કરી રહી હતી. ખેતરમાં કૂવો દેખાયો નહીં એ એમાં પડી ને મૃત્યુ પામી.

લાલાભાઈએ ગાયોના ધંધામાં બરકત નથી. લાવ બીજુ અજમાવું એવું ન વિચાર્યું. એમણે જાણે કુદરતને પડકારી કે તુ દુઃખ આપ હું હિંમત નહીં હારુ.

લાલાભાઈએ દેવાળુ ફૂંકેલું. આવામાં નવી લોન અપાય કે નહીં તે મૂંઝવણ વચ્ચે VSSM ના કાર્યકર પરેશે ભરોષો કરી લોન આપી. ફરી ગાય લાવ્યા. એક લોન પતી ને બીજી લીધી ને ફરી ગાય લાવ્યા. આજે એમની પાસે ત્રણ ગાયો છે. એ સિવાય ડેરીમાં દૂધ ભરાવી જે નફો થાય એમાંથી એ ગાયો લે વેચનું કામ પણ કરવા માંડ્યા.

દેવું પણ ધીમે ધીમે ઉતરી રહ્યું છે..

માણસો નિષ્ફળતામાં હતાશ થઈ જઈને જે કામમાં તેમણે હાથ અજમાવ્યો હોય એ છોડી દેવાનું કરે. પણ કદાચ ટકી રહે તો એ નિષ્ફળતા પછી તુરત સફળતા મળી શકે..મુદ્દો ખાલી ટકવાનો ને હિંમત ન હારવાનો છે.. 

લાલાભાઈ ટકી રહ્યા.. વળી એમની નિષ્ઠા પાક્કી હતી એટલે એ સફળ પણ થયા..

લાલાભાઈ પાસેથી આપણે સૌએ મુશ્કેલીમાં પણ ટકી રહેવાની વાત શીખવા જેવી...

Rohit is 23 years old; he hasn’t been able to study much.

He took up a job as an assistant at a grocery store with an initial salary of Rs. 5000, which was later raised to Rs. 6000. However, this wasn’t the kind of job he enjoyed. He aspired to increase his income to provide a better life for his family but lacked the funds to pursue an independent venture.

This is the story of the Morai village of Mahisagar’s Lunawada block. Many families of Morai are in the business of growing and selling flowers. However, since they do not own land,they lease it with money borrowed from a private lender at a very high-interest rate. VSSM provided interest-free loans to 10 women farmers, so they did not have to borrow from a private lender.

Rohit also took a loan to try his hands at the flower business. At the end of the season, he made a profit of Rs. 22,000. The money, along with his savings, enabled Rohit to purchase a cow. He began bringing milk to the cooperative dairy, and within ten days, he began earning from it.

Rohit has a newfound interest in cattle farming. He took another loan from VSSM, bought a buffalo, and wishes to buy a few more cattle.

VSSM’s Vinod is compassionate towards Rohit, “Didi, I want Rohit to have a cattle farm/shed. Rohit also gears up to take up bigger responsibilities; we liked his enterprise.

Our cities cannot take the load of the growing influx of rural populations; under such circumstances strengthening the rural economies is the key. Therefore, it is desired youth like

Rohit should stay in the villages, in pollution-free environments, and create a better life for themselves and their families.

Along with his work, Rohit has volunteered to take up the responsibility of collecting the instalments from loanees of Morai village. We wish more people take up such responsibility and facilitate our work. Vinod has played an essential role in mentoring Rohit to spread his wings.

રોહીત 23 વર્ષનો.. બહુ ભણી ન શક્યો.

એક કરિયાણાની દુકાનમાં ગુમાસ્તા તરીકે કામે લાગ્યો. માસીક 5000 ને પછી 6000 પગાર થયો. પણ એનું મન એ કામમાં લાગે નહીં. એને ઝાઝા પૈસા કમાવવા હતા જેથી જીંદગી બહેતર થઈ શકે. પણ ધંધો કરવા પાસે પૈસા નહીં.

વાત છે મહિસાગરના લુણાવાડાના મોરાઈગામની. મોરાઈમાં રહેતા કેટલાક પરિવારો ફૂલોનો વેપાર કરે. પણ એમની પાસે પોતાની જમીન નહીં એ ભાગવી જમીન રાખી એમાં ખેતી કરે અને ભાગવી જમીન રાખવા પાછા વ્યાજે પૈસા લાવે. અમે દસેક બહેનોને વ્યાજે પૈસા લાવવા ન પડે તે માટે લોન આપી. 

રોહીતે પણ લોન લીધી ને ફૂલોની ખેતી કરી. ફૂલોની સીઝન પત્યા પછી એને 22,000નો નફો મળ્યો. એ પૈસામાં થોડા ઉમેરી એ એક ગાય લાવ્યો. એનું દૂધ ડેરીમાં ભરાવ્યું અને દસ દિવસે એને પગાર મળવા માંડ્યો.

રોહીતને પશુપાલનના ધંધામાં મન લાગ્યું. એણે અમારી પાસેથી બીજી લોન લીધી અને ભેંસ લાવ્યો. એની ઈચ્છા હજુ વધારે ઢોર લાવવાની.

અમારા કાર્યકર વિનોદને રોહીત માટે ઘણી લાગણી. એ કહે, દીદી મારે તો રોહીત પાસે તબેલો કરાવવો છે. રોહીત પણ હવે એ માટે સજ્જ થઈ રહ્યો છે. પણ રોહીતે કરેલું સાહસ ગમ્યું.

આજે ગામડાં છોડીને લોકો શહેર ભણી આવી રહ્યા છે. અહીંયાનું પ્રદુષણ માણસનું વહેલા ખતમ કરી નાખશે. વળી બિમારીઓ નોતરે એ તો જુદુ. પાછુ ગામડાં ભાંગવા ન જોઈએ એ વાતેય સાચી.

બસ રોહીત જેવા યુવાનો આ રીતે ગામોમાં કામ કરતા થાય એ ઈચ્છનીય..

રોહીત પોતાના ધંધાની સાથે સાથે મોરાઈગામમાં અમે જેટલી પણ લોન આપી છી તે તમામ લોનના હપ્તાની ઉઘરાણી કરવાનું કામ પણ કરે.. એ પણ પોતાની મેળે.. 

સંસ્થાના કાર્યોમાં આવા સ્વંયસેવકો જોડાય તો કામોનો વ્યાપ પણ વધે. જો કે રોહીતને આ બધા માટે તૈયાર કરવામાં વિનોદનો ફાળો મોટો... 

તો રોહીત અને વિનોદ બેઉને એમના કાર્યોમાં ખુબ આગળ વધો એવી શુભેચ્છા...
