| Mittal Patel meets Natubhai in his grocery shop |
Natubhai runs a small grocery shop in the remote village of Morikha in Banaskantha’s Suigaum block.
The shop helped suffice the daily needs of the family but saving for a rainy day was not possible through that meager income. Moreover, Natubhai needed capital to stock up the shop, which would also come with a heavy interest rate. Hence, he did not bother to stir the normal.
When Natubhai met VSSM’s Bhagwanbhai he learned about the organization’s Swavlamban initiative. “Will you loan me some money?” he asked hesitantly. Natubhai was concerned we might question his loan repayment capacity as he owned a kuchha house and had nothing much to act as a guarantee. However, VSSM considers such individuals ideal loanees, and we loaned him Rs. 30,000.
Natubhai paid timely installments and paid off the loan. I had the opportunity to meet him when I was in his region recently.
“What difference did the loan of Rs. 30,000 bring in your life?” I asked.
“The loan helped me stock up the shop and increase earnings and profit. My wife had a stroke recently, and I managed to afford her treatment of Rs. 90,000 thanks to the earnings. I also rebuild the house from kuccha to puccca. If it weren’t for the loan, I would not have managed to spend on all these expenses.” Natubhai narrated. The reply brought me so much joy.
“What more do you wish to achieve!” I asked.
“If you trust me and loan me some more money, I wish to renovate my shop into a puccca one,” Natubhai replied to my question.
Since Natubhai had paid timely installments, there was no question we would refuse another loan.

મોરીખા સૂઈગામ તાલુકાનું અંતરિયાળ ગામ.
નટુભાઈ ત્યાં નાનકડી દુકાન ચલાવે. રોજીંદો ખર્ચો એમાંથી નીકળી જાય પણ ઝાઝુ ભેગુ ન થાય. પૈસા મળે તો દુકાનમાં વધારે સામાન ભરાવી શકાય. પણ પૈસા આપે કોણ? વ્યાજવા લાવે તો વ્યાજ તોડી નાખે... એટલે જેમ ચાલતુ હતું એ ચલાવે રાખ્યું.
આવામાં નટુભાઈને અમારા કાર્યકર ભગવાનભાઈનો પરિચય થયો ને સંસ્થા થકી લોન મળે છે તેવો ખ્યાલ આવ્યો. એમણે સંકોચ સાથે મને લોન આપશો એમ કહ્યું. મૂળ ઘર પણ પાકકુ નથી ગેરંટી માટેનો એવો કોઈ આધાર નથી એટલે એમને ડર લાગતો. પણ અમે તો આવા જ પરિવારોને ભગવાન માનીએ.
એટલે ત્રીસ હજાર લોન પેટે આપ્યા.
નિયમીત હપ્તો ભરીને એમણે લોન પુરી કરી. હમણાં ત્યાં જવાનું થયું તો નટુભાઈ મળ્યા. અમે પુછ્યું. "ત્રીસ હજારથી જીવનમાં શું બદલાવ આવ્યો?" જવાબમાં એમણે જે કહ્યું એ સાંભળી રાજી થવાયું.
એમણે કહ્યું,
"મારી ઘરવાળીને લકવા થકી ગ્યો તે 90,000ની દવા આ દુકાનમાં સામાન વધારે ભરાવ્યો હતો તેમાંથી કમાઈને જ કરાવી શક્યો. મારુ કાચુ ઘર પાક્કુ બાંધ્યું અને હાલેય નફો તો સારો જ મળે છે.."
કેવો હરખ થાય આવું સાંભળીયે ત્યારે.મે પુછ્યું, બીજી કોઈ એષણા તો એમણે કહ્યું, "આ દુકાન પાક્કી કરવી છે. જો તમે ભરોષો કરી લોન આપો તો."
નટુભાઈના ના પાડવાનો પ્રશ્ન નહોતો મૂળ એમણે વ્યવહાર બરાબર સાચવ્યો હતો..
આવા 6200 થી વધુ પરિવારોને અમે લોન આપી છે. જેમાંના મોટાભાગના આજે બે પાંદડે થયા છે. બસ ઈશ્વર એમને ખુબ તાકાત આપે ને એ ખુબ તરક્કી કરે તેવી શુભભાવના. આ કાર્યમાં અમને મદદ કરનાર સ્વજનોનો પણ ઘણો આભાર.
