Shardaben bhavabhai Rathod stays at Dudhrej area of Vadhvan Taluka at Surendranagar District in Gujarat. She does her traditional business of selling cutlery. Her husband Bhavabhai moves around the surrounding villages riding on his chhakda and sells Peanuts and Chickpea. Initially they used to purchase the material as per the capital they were having. Shardaben said, “if there is lesser material, it gets sold faster and sometimes we have to go to purchase the material for two times in a day. She had to spend on the local commuting two times a day. Sometimes disability to purchase the material for second time, made my day wasted. If I could purchase more material, I may earn well and could save money on travel expenses. Even it could save my time and I could do more business but less capital is the issue. Harshadbhai the VSSM field worker used to visit Shardaben’s village frequently. She told her problem to Harshadbhai. VSSM gave her loan of Rs. 15,000/- on Harshadbhai’s recommendation. She used the money in to her cutlery business as well as gave some amount to her husband for his business. Apart from loan she had Nagarpalika card on the basis of the information she had from Harshadbhai. She got a place nearby Tanki Chawk which is three km away from her village. She daily sells her cutlery material sitting there. During the wedding season, she moves around the surrounding villages to sell cutlery material. Shardaben has the opinion that, “now after having the loan she can purchase more material and that saves her extra expenses. She can do little saving also. I will re-pay this loan early so that I can have another big loan to expand my business.”  Shardaben is staying in a joint family. Her elder son is married and her younger daughter is studying. Her son goes with his father to help him in the business. Shardaben’s monthly installment decided was Rs. 1000/- per month but she is regularly re-paying Rs. 1500 to close her first loan at the earliest. She has decided to expand her business and her husband’s business by taking new loan of Rs. 40,000/-. She says that, “she never thought of to expand her business like this but when VSSM supported, we could understand business mechanism and it gave us courage think to expand our business. I could work up on to issue Nagarpalika Card on my name. I am thankful to VSSM.”

VSSMની લોન દ્વારા શારદાબેનને મળ્યો હાશકારો...

શારદાબેન ભવાભાઈ રાઠોડ સુરેન્દ્રનગર જીલ્લાના દૂધરેજમાં વસવાટ કરે. તેઓ પોતે તેમનો વંશ પરંપરાગત કટલરીનો ધંધો કરે જયારે તેમના પતિ ભવાભાઈ આજુબાજુના ગામોમાં છકડો લઇ સીંગ ચણાની ફેરી કરે. VSSMમાંથી લોન મળ્યા પહેલા શારદાબેન એમની પાસે જેટલી મૂડી હોય એટલો સામાન લાવે અને ગામમાં વેચવા જાય. શારદાબેનનું કહેવું છે કે માલ ઓછો હોય તો જલ્દી વેચાઈ જાય, ઘણીયે વાર માલ દિવસમાં બે વાર લેવા જવું પડે જેનાથી દિવસમાં બે વાર ભાડું થાય.. કેટલીયે વાર બીજી વાર માલ લેવા ના જવાય અને બેકાર બેસી રહેવું પડે. ઝાઝો માલ હોય તો ધક્કો ના થાય. શારદાબેનના ગામમાં VSSMમાંથી હર્ષદભાઈ અવાર નવાર આવે, હર્ષદભાઈને વાત કરતા સંસ્થામાંથી શારદાબેનને ૧૫,૦૦૦ની લોન આપવામાં આવી. આ રકમનો ઉપયોગ શારદાબેને પોતાના કટલરીના ધંધામાં તો કર્યો જ સાથે સાથે પોતાના પતિના ધંધામાં પણ કર્યો. એ સિવાય હર્ષદભાઈ પાસેથી મળેલી માહિતીનો ઉપયોગ કરી શારદાબેને નગરપાલિકા દ્વારા કાર્ડ મેળવ્યું. જેના કારણે તેમના ગામથી ત્રણ કિ.મી. દૂર તેમને ટાંકી ચોક પાસે જગ્યા આપવામાં આવી છે જ્યાં તે દરરોજ પોતાના કટલરીના માલનું વેચાણ કરે છે. તે સિવાય શારદાબેન ગામમાં આજુબાજુ મેળામાં અને લગ્ન પ્રસંગે માલ વેચવા જાય છે. શારદાબેન કહે છે કે લોન મળતા હવે તો બચત થાય છે તેથી લોન વ્હેલા પૂરી કરી દેવી છે અને બીજી મોટી લોન લઇ મોટો ધંધો કરવો છે. શારદાબેન સંયુક્ત પરિવારમાં રહે છે તેમના મોટા દીકરાના લગ્ન થઇ ગયા છે અને નાની દિકરી ભણવા જાય છે. દીકરો પિતાની સાથે છકડામાં માલ વેચવા જાય છે. શારદાબેન હાલ રૂ. ૧૦૦૦ની જગ્યાએ રૂ. ૧૫૦૦નો હપ્તો નિયમિત ભરે છે જેથી આ લોન વહેલી પૂરી થાય. તે બીજી લોન રૂ. ૪૦,૦૦૦ની લઇ પોતાના ધંધાની સાથે સાથે પોતાના પતિના ધંધાને પણ વિકસાવવા માંગે છે. શારદાબેન કહે છે કે ક્યારેય આવી રીતે પોતાના ધંધાને વિકસાવવા માટે વિચાર્યું જ નહોતું સંસ્થાએ હાથ ઝાલ્યો તો સમજણેય આવી અને હિમ્મ્તેય આવી જેથી હું જાતે નગરપાલિકા જઈ કાર્ડ કઢાઈ શકી આ માટે સંસ્થાનો ખૂબ ખૂબ આભાર. સંસ્થા તરફથી એ જ પ્રાર્થના કે શારદાબેન દિવસે ને દિવસે પ્રગતિ કરે અને પોતાના સપના પૂરા કરે...
