Meeting under progress with vadi community

We recently had a meeting with the Vadi families engaged in making broom sticks. They stay in dangaas located around Ahmedabad. It is their skill of making brooms that helps them sustain their families since the manual labor jobs aren’t paying enough. These families face issues very similar to the other nomadic communities, their names do not feature in any BPL list, the villagers are against their permanent settlement etc.. etc..

Also, they do not have access to any support to initiate into other ventures or expand their current business. The meeting was to understand their issues, how can they come together as a cooperative to improve their bargaining capacity!! They aren’t convinced of forming a cooperative but we are hopeful…

સાપના ખેલ કરનારા વાદીને નહીં પણ સાવરણી બનાવનાર વાદીને મળવાનું થયું. અમદાવાદ આસપાસમાં એમના ડંગા. સાવરણીના ધંધામાં ખાલી જીવાય બાકી કરેલી મજુરીના પૈસાય નથી મળતા. પાસે મૂડીએ નથી કે ધંધો વધારે સારો કરી શકાય. આવા વાદી સમુદાયના લોકો સાથે એક બેઠક કરી. તેમના પ્રશ્નો પણ અન્ય વિચરતી જાતિઓ જેવા જ. ગામના સરપંચ છાપરુ કરવા નથી દેતા.બી.પી.એલ.યાદીમાં નામ નથી વગેરે વગેરે... 

આવા વાદીઓ સાથે સાવરણીના ધંધાને વિકસાવવા શું કરવું તે અંગે મનોમંથન કર્યું. સાથે સાથે તેમને સરકારની મદદ કેવી રીતે મળે તે અંગે પણ વાત કરી.

બધા વાદી એક થઈને મંડળી બનાવે તો ઘણો ફાયદો થાય પણ હજુ તે બાબતે સહમતી નથી આવી રહી. આવશે તેવી આશા સાથે કરેલી બેઠકની તસવીર
