Bhikhabhai Vansvadi chooses to dream big….

“Ben, I want to buy a pickup-dalu (personal vehicle in the nomadic dialect). Will you give me a loan?”

“But buying such a big vehicle requires lot of money and VSSM does not give big loans. Think of some other smaller vehicle!”

This was the conversation I had with Bhikhabhai Vansvadi, a resident of Tadav village. The required loan amount was huge and since I had not approved it this conversation also  slipped out of my mind. Two months later Bhikhabhai calls up again…

“Ben, I have managed to save some money, the auto dealer also offers a loan, please lend me Rs. 50,000 and I shall be able to buy the pickup dalu. I am confident, the business will grow because of the vehicle and my earning will increase substantially. You please  do not worry about the repayment of loan, I will repay each penny of the amount borrowed.”

“It is not the loan I am worried about, I have complete faith in you, it is just that I don’t want you to incur so much debt!!”

“You are right, Ben!! But you have taught us to dream, so let me dream… trust me I will not fail!!”

There was nothing left for me to say to talk convince him further!! VSSM sanctioned a Rs. 50,000 loan to Bhikhabhai. He uses his vehicle to sell plastic houseware. The business is doing extremely well and he is repaying the installments on time.

I am glad Bhikhabhai chose to not just dream but dream big. A little prayer slips for him though, may the divine also help him live his dream…..

‘બેન પીકઅપ ડાલુ લેવું સે. લોન આલશો.’

‘પણ એ માટે તો ઘણા પૈસા થાય અને #vssm આટલી મોટી લોન ના આપે. તેમ નાનું કાંઈક સાધન વિચારો.’ 

ટડાવગામમાં રહેતા ભીખાભાઈ #વાંસવાદી સાથે આ વાત થઈ પછી મારા મનમાંથી ભીખાભાઈની વાત વિસારાઈ ગઈ. પણ લગભગ બે મહિના પછી પાછો એમનો ફોન આવ્યો.

‘બેન મે થોડા પૈસા ભેગા કર્યા સે. ફાયનાન્સમાંથી થોડી લોન લેવાનું યે નક્કી થઈ ગ્યું સે. તમે પચા હજાર આલો તો બધુ થઈ જાય. મારે પીકઅપ ડાલુ જ લેવું હ. ધંધો થાશે મને વિસવા સે અને તમારી લોનની જરાય ચંત્યા ના કરો હું પઈએ પઈ ચુકવી દઈશ.’

‘અરે અવિશ્વાસ નથી તમે લોન ભરશો પણ આવડુ મોટું દેવું ના કરો એમ ઈચ્છુ છુ.’ 

‘વાત હાચી પણ સપના જોવાનું તો તમે જ કોશો ને તો જોવા દોન મોટુ સપનું થઈ રેશે. ભરોહો રાખો..’

વધારે કશું બોલવાનું નહોતું. પચાસ હજાર લોન પેટે આપ્યા. ભીખાભાઈ પ્લાસ્ટીકના તબકડાં, ડોલ, ટબ લઈને વેચવા જાય છે. ખુબ સરસ ધંધો કરે છે. વગર વ્યાજની અમારી લોનનો હપ્તો પણ નિયમિત ભરે છે..

આનંદ એમણે મોટા સ્વપ્ન જોવાનું શરૃ કર્યું એનો છે. બસ આ સ્વપ્ન તુટે નહીં એનું ધ્યાન રાખવા કુદરતને અરજ
