“You will have to give us a loan as we need to release our mortgaged land!” was the voice of women from the Bajaniyaa community of Mahisagar’s Morai village.
The women are upbeat and full of life and help their husbands earn an extra income. They cultivate flowers on leased land, and because they lack funds to pay as lease, the money is borrowed from a private money lender at an excessive rate of interest. In the past, VSSM has helped these families obtain caste certificates.
The group knew about VSSM’s interest-free loan program and requested a loan of Rs. 10,000 each to lease the land and grow flowers for trading. The profits were good, and the loan was easily repaid. As an add-on to their savings, ten women from the group wished to avail of another loan to buy buffalos. The previous track record was good; hence, VSSM loaned Rs. 50,000 to each of them. The money helped them buy buffaloes. The milk is sold to the dairy, and the salary comes every ten days.
Once upon a time, the family members of these women owned land, however, the need for cash to meet social or medical obligations made them mortgage their land. Since the economic conditions of these families never improved, they could never get their land released. When they married into these families, these women always heard mention of the farms their in-laws owned, but the thought of getting the land released never passed their minds because of poor financial conditions.
As the business of flowers and milk flourished, the group grew a little more greedy; they desired to release the mortgaged land to save on the money they paid as the lease. Thus, they came up with a request for another loan which we sanctioned immediately.
Who would not want to support such hard-working and honest humans?
We hope and pray for the success and happiness of these and all the other hard-working women.
'અમારે અમારી ગીરો મુકેલી જમીન છોડાવવી છે.. તે તમારે અમને એ માટે લોન આપવી પડશે?'મહિસાગરનું મોરાઈ ગામ ને ત્યાં રહેતા બજાણિયા સમુદાયની બહેનોએ આ કહ્યું. આ બહેનો છે મજાની.. પતિને ઘર સંભાળવામાં આર્થિક મદદ કરે. આમ તો ફૂલોની ખેતી એ ભાડેથી ખેતર રાખીને કરે. ભાડે ખેતર રાખવા પૈસા ન હોય એટલે વ્યાજવા પૈસા લાવે.. પણ વ્યાજને પહોંચવું એમના માટે મુશ્કેલ થાય. અમે આ પરિવારોને જાતિ પ્રમાણપત્ર કઢાવી આપવામાં મદદરૃપ થયેલા.
એમને VSSM સ્વતંત્ર ધંધો કરવા લોન આપે એ ખબર તે અમારી પાસેથી 10,000ની લોન લઈ એમણે ફૂલોની ખેતી કરી. નફો સારો એવો થયો. લોન તો ભરપાઈ થઈ ગઈ. હવે વિચાર આવ્યો બચતમાં થોડા બીજા પૈસા ઉમેરાય તો ભેંસો લઈ લેવાનો.
10 બહેનોએ ભેંસો લેવા લોન માંગી. અમે પ્રત્યેકને 50,000 આપ્યા. મૂળ એમનો વાટકી વ્યવહાર સરસ હતો એટલે મન થયું. ને દસે બહેનોના ઘર આંગણે ભેંસો બંધાઈ ગઈ. હવે એ ડેરીમાં દૂધ ભરાવે ને દસ દિવસે પગાર રળતા થઈ ગયા.
આ બધી બહેનો પાસે પોતાની જમીન હતી. પણ દાદા, પરદાદા કે સસરાએ નાની જરૃરિયાતો ઘરમાં કોઈ બિમારી આવી કે પ્રસંગ આવ્યો એ કરવા માટે પૈસાની સગવડ ન થઈ એટલે એમણે ગામના કોઈ વ્યક્તિ પાસે જમીન ગીરો મુકી ને પૈસા લઈ પ્રસંગો કર્યા.
પણ એમની આર્થિક સ્થિતિ નબળી જ રહી તે જમીન ફરી છોડાવી ન શક્યા. આ બહેનો તો પરણીને આવ્યા પછી આ પેલુ ખેતર આપણું એવું જ સાઁભળતી. પણ જમીન છોડાવવાનો વિચાર એમને નહોતો આવતો. મૂળ છોડાવવા પાસે પૈસા નહીં.
પણ ફૂલોના વેપાર પછી ભેંસો આવી આમ થોડી સુખાકારી વધી. એટલે હવે વધારે આવક રળવાની હોંશ થઈ. હાલ ભાગવી જમીન વાવી ભેંસો માટે ચારો કરે. એમને થયું પોતાની જમીન મળી જાય તો આ ભાગવી જમીનમાં જે બે ભાગ જાય છે તે ન જાય.બસ એટલે એમણે આ જમીન છોડાવવા અમારી પાસેથી લોન માંગી. ને અમે તુરત આપવા કહ્યું.
આવી મહેનતકશ બહેનોને મદદ કરવી કોને ન ગમે..
વળી એમનો વ્યવહાર એકદમ ચોખ્ખો ત્યારે તો ખાસ મદદ કરવી ગમે...
બસ આ બહેનોને એમના જેવી તમામ મહેનતકશ બહેનો સુખી થાય એવી શુભભાવના... ને એમની સાથે ફોટો લેવો તો ગમેજ..
તસવીરમાં દેખાતો અમારો કાર્યકર વિનોદ આ બહેનો માટે સ્વપ્ન જુએ નેએમને એમાં આગળ વધવા પ્રોત્સાહન આપે.. આવા કાર્યકરો મળવા એ પણ નસીબની વાત...
