Flooding of cities and towns during the monsoons is a common scenario in the Indian cities. Householders, small business holders and entrepreneurs suffer heavy losses during these annual event!! In the year 2014 the Tapi river of Surat flooded the low-lying areas in the city one of which was Bamroli. Kamleshbhai Raval had his garage in this area. He escaped the flooding but suffered heavy losses in business. With marginal savings it was difficult to revive garage back.  He decided to return back to his hometown Sandesari in Siddhpur-Patan. He and his wife became daily wage earners. Kamleshbhai however, wasn’t happy with this arrangement. 

Kamleshbhai had a knowledge  of VSSM’s livelihood initiative because in North Gujarat most of the nomadic communities are aware of VSSM’s initiatives for the nomadic communities. Kamleshbhai contacted VSSM’s Pareshbhai, requesting him for a loan from VSSM. Kamleshbhai was extended a Rs. 30,000/- loan for a garage in Chapi. Kamleshbhai added some of his savings to the amount and began the garage. The work is going on well and he is nearing completion of his loan. 

Kamleshbhai is no longer sorry for the loss and eventualy living Surat. He is happy to be in his home town amidst his near and dear ones and running a successful garage. “Hadn’t VSSM come to my rescue I still would be toiling as a manual labourer.” confesses an elated Kamleshbhai.

vssmમાંથી વગર વ્યાજે લોન લઈને સુરેશભાઈ રાવળે પોતાનું ગેરેજ શરુ કર્યું. 

વર્ષ ૨૦૧૪માં તાપી નદીએ રૌદ્ર સ્વરૂપ ધારણ કર્યું હતું. શહેરમાં રીક્ષાઓમાં લાઉડ સ્પીકર દ્વારા સલામત સ્થળે જવા જાહેરાતો ચોતરફ સંભળાતી હતી. સુરતના બામરોલી વિસ્તારમાં પાણી ચઢવા લાગ્યું. ત્યાં ગેરેજ ધરાવતાં કમલેશભાઈ રાવળ પણ ગેરેજ ઉપર પાણી આવતા સલામત સ્થળે જતા રહ્યા. મનમાં એક ચિંતા ગેરેજમાં પડેલા સામાનનું શુ થશે એ હતી પણ કુદરત આગળ કશું ચાલે. નહિ. પાણી ઓસર્યા પણ સુરેશભાઈના ગેરેજને ખુબ નુકશાન કરતાં ગયાં. ગેરેજને પાછું બેઠું કરવું મુશ્કેલ હતું. બચત પણ ખાસ નહોતી કે ફરી ધંધો કરી શકે. આખરે પાટણ જીલ્લાના સિદ્ધપુર તાલુકામાં આવેલા પોતાના વતન સંડેસરી પાછા ફર્યા. પતિ- પત્ની જે મળે એ છૂટક મજૂરી કરવા લાગ્યા પણ કારીગર એવા કમલેશભાઈનો જીવ છૂટક મજૂરીમાં લાગતો નહોતો.

ઉત્તર ગુજરાતમાં ‘વિચરતા સમુદાય સમર્થન મંચ’ની પ્રવૃતિને મોટાભાગની વિચરતી અને વિમુક્ત જાતિના લોકો જાણે. vssm પોતાનો સ્વતંત્ર વ્યવસાય કરવા ઇચ્છતા વિચરતી જાતિના લોકોને વગર વ્યાજે લોન આપે છે આ વિગતો સુરેશભાઈ જાણે. એમણે vssmના કાર્યકર પરેશ રાવળનો સંપર્ક કરી મદદરૂપ થવા વિનંતી કરી. vssm દ્વારા  રૂ.૩૦,૦૦૦ની લોન છાપીમાં ગેરેજ કરવા આપવામાં આવી. સુરેશભાઈએ પણ પોતાની થોડી બચત ઉમેરી એમ કરતાં વ્યવસાય શરુ કર્યો. એમનું કામ ખુબ જ સારું ચાલી રહ્યું છે. હવે તો એમની લોન પણ પૂરી થવામાં છે. 

કમલેશભાઈને સુરત છોડ્યાનો વસવસો નથી. પોતાના ગામમાં- સમાજમાં આનંદપૂર્વક જીવન વ્યતીત કરે છે અને ગર્વથી કહે છે કે, ‘જો vssmએ સહાય ના કરી હોત તો આજેય છૂટક મજૂરી માટે રઝળવું પડત.’
