Mittal Patel meets Hamirbhai in Surendranagar

Hamirbhai resides in Surendranagar. He travels across the villages in his region to collect and trade junk; the chakda he owns enables him to cover multiple towns in a day. The income from his business has remained good, and so have the savings; this financial prudence helped  Hamirbhai build a pucca house. However, the construction cost of the home of his dreams ate away all his savings.

Hamirbhai’s occupation requires capital on hand; this helps him collect/buy more junk and sell only when substantial kilos are collected. Selling junk in bulk gives him better bargaining capacity and fetches more money. But Hamirbhai had spent all his savings on the house and needed financial support. 

Since Hamirbhai has been associated with us through our activities, he spoke to our team member Harshadbhai about the financial crunch. As a result, VSSM sanctioned a loan of Rs. 30,000. The funds helped him return to business, with profits and savings returning to normal. Hamirbhai has almost paid off his loan. We recently had a meeting with such families of Surendranagar. We were happy to learn about the progress and well-being of these families, more importantly, to know that individuals like Hamirbhai have remained punctual in their financial relationship with us.

હમીરભાઈ સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં રહે. છકડામાં એ ભંગાર ભેગુ કરવાનું કામ આસપાસના ગામોમાં ફરીને કરે. આવક પ્રમાણમાં સારી અને બચતની એમની સમજણ પણ ખરી. એટલે છાપરાંમાંથી પાક્કુ મજાનું ઘર એમણે બાંધી દીધું. પણ ઘર એ કૂવો, નાખવું હોય એટલું એમાં નંખાય. બસ હમીરભાઈએ પણ નાખ્યું ને એમાં એમની બચત ખતમ થઈ ગઈ.

ભંગાર ભેગુ કરવાના ધંધામાં એમને થોડી ઘણી મુડી હાથ પર જોઈએ એ હોય તો વધારે ભંગાર ભેગું કરી સામટુ વેચવા જઈ શકાય. વધારે સામાન હોય તો પૈસા પણ સારા મળે. પણ ઘર બનાવવામાં હાથવગી બધી મૂડી ખતમ થઈ.

અમારા સાથે એ વર્ષોથી સંકળાયેલા. અમારા કાર્યકર હર્ષદભાઈને એમણે ધંધો કરવામાં પડી રહેલી ભીંસની વાત કરી. અમે 30,000ની લોન આપી. હાથમાં મૂડી આવતા પાછી ગાડી પાટે ચડી ગઈ. હવે તો એમની લોનના હપ્તા પણ ભરાઈ ગયા. લોનથી ધંધામાં પણ નફો પણ પહેલાં જેવો થવા માંડ્યો. હમણાં સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં અમારા આ બધા પરિવારો સાથે બેઠક થઈ એમાં હમીરભાઈ મળ્યા ને એમણે બધી વાત કરી.  એમને થયેલી બરકત વિષે સાંભળી રાજી થવાયું.  પણ અગત્યનું એમણે વ્યવહાર જાળવ્યો એ છે.

હમીરભાઈ ખુબ સુખી થાય એવી શુભભાવના. VSSM આવા શુભમાં નિમિત્ત બની શકે એનો રાજીપો..

Mittal Patel meets Geetaben in Surendranagar

"I bring goods from Chor-Bazaar in Mumbai to sell it here in Surendranagar. I used to live in Mumbai, but after my husband's death, my parents brought me to stay with them in Surendranagar. I have no children, and I did not want to burden my father or brother. Since I knew the Mumbai market well,  I decided to bring goods from there and retail them in Surendranagar. I did not have the capital to begin the business, but VSSM's Harshadbhai got me a loan of Rs. 30,000, and my business took wings," shared Geetaben, a resident of Surendranagar; she also talked about the importance of being financially independent.

"Of course. I have formed a habit of saving money." Geetaben responded to our query if she saved enough.

Geetaben's first loan is about to be paid off, and she has already requested another loan of Rs. 50000/- to help her stock more goods.

Geetaben has never been to school, but her entrepreneurial skills have helped her find success in her independent venture.

"I want to live an independent life and earn for myself," Geetaben had valid reasons for not remarrying. Individuals like Geetaben are an inspiration to single women. And watching her succeed and be happy has cheered us for sure.

The wisdom and understanding VSSM's team showcase in identifying such beneficiaries are worth a shoutout.

"હું મુંબઈ ચોરબજારમાંથી સામાન લાવીને સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં વેચુ છુ. મારા ઘરવાળા ગુજરી ગ્યા. મારે છોકરાં નથી. હું પહેલાં મુંબઈ રહેતી પણ મારા ઘરવાળા ગુજરી ગ્યા પછી મારા બાપા મને સુરેન્દ્રનગર તેડી લાવ્યા. એમનો  આભાર પણ અહીંયા આવીને બાપા કે ભાઈના માથે પડીએ તો એમને ન ગમે. એટલે પગભર થવાનો વિચાર કર્યો અને મુંબઈ તો મારુ જાણીતું હતુ. એટલે ત્યાંથી સામાન લાવીને વેચવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. શરૃઆતમાં ધંધા માટે પૈસા નહોતા પણ હર્ષદભાઈ (vssm ના કાર્યકર)એ સંસ્થામાંથી મને ત્રીસ હજારની લોન આપી અને મારુ ગાડુ ગબડ્યું."

સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં રહેતા ગીતાબહેને આ વાત કરી. પોતે કમાતા હોઈએ તો જીવને કેવી રાહત થાય એની વાત પણ એમણે કરી. 

જ્યારે અમે પુછ્યું બચત કરો છો ત્યારે એમણે કહ્યું, "હા એ તો કરવી જ પડે ને.. નિયમીત બચત કરુ". 

એમની લોન પતવામાં છે એમણે કહ્યું હવે મારે પચાસ હજારની લોન જોઈએ છે. જેથી વધારે સામાન લાવીને વેચી શકાય.ગીતાબહેન નિશાળનું પગથિયું ચડ્યા નથી પણ ધંધામાં એમની હોંશિયારી ઘણી છે એટલે એ સરસ કમાતા થઈ ગયા. બીજા લગ્ન કરવા નથી. એમણે કહ્યું, " સ્વતંત્ર રીતે જીવવું છે ને પોતાની રીતે કમાઈને ખાવું છે.."

ગીતાબહેન પતિની છત્રછાયા ગુમાવી ચુકેલી અથવા એકલી રહેતી કેટલીયે સ્ત્રીઓ માટે પ્રેરણા આપનાર. એમની સુખાકારી જોઈ અમનેય ટાઢક થઈ.
