Devabhai Kangasiya chooses to dream big….

 “I am in the market right now instead of having to think a hundred times to buy a thing worth a hundred rupees. I have a wedding at my brother's house and I have bought seven thousands of clothes for my children so far and I don't mind if I buy more. Apart from this, I currently have goods worth Rs 3.5 lakh”

I asked Devabhai of Tankara what happened after he took a loan from VSSM and started an independent business. He replied in the affirmative.

Devabhai's wife works as a casual laborer and also goes to sell cosmetics in a basket like Kangasiya women.

Devabhai's sister used to make a better profit by selling bedsheets, towels and other household items in a short time. She asked Devabhai to put up a labor job and start a business. But Devabhai had no capital. Our worker Kanubhai was already in contact with Chayaben. After talking to Kanubhai, we gave him a loan of Rs 30,000 and then he picked up speed. Took second and then took the third loan. The profit in the business increased so he took a vehicle named Chhota Hathi. Now Devabhai and his wife travel to various villages in a vehicle to do the business. He also goes to tradefair to do the business. 

In three or four years, life changed. Instead of having to think ten times to spend hundred rupees, he is able to pay the bank installment of the two lakh down payment of the vehicle and the institution's installment. And he also has good savings in the bank account now. 

When I asked about his dream, Devabhai said, “I want to make a good house and a big show room on top of the house. I want to sell the wholesale goods.  At present, I bring goods from a local trader, but the profit is not enough. But in one year, I want to bring wholesale blankets, bedsheets and other goods directly from the factory from Ludhiana”.

If the income of the person who eats daily by bringing daily, increases a little, then the dreams start to grow in their own way. We have seen this in the case of Devabhai and many others like him.

It is also important to earn money but also to help others in the society. Devabhai also worked with us in that way.

સો રૂપિયાની વસ્તુ ખરીદવા સો વખત વિચાર કરવો પડતો એની જગ્યાએ હાલ બજારમાં જ છું. મારા ભાઈના ઘરે લગ્ન છે ને મે મારા બાાળુકો હાટુ અત્યાર લગી હાત હજારના લૂગડાં ખરીદી લીધા છે ને હજુ વધારે ખરીદે તો પણ મને વાંધો આવે એમ નથી. આ સિવાય મારી પાસે હાલમાં ત્રણથી સાડા ત્રણ લાખનો સામાન પડ્યો છે'

મે ટંકારાના દેવાભાઈને VSSMમાંથી લોન લઈને સ્વતંત્ર ધંધો શરૃ કર્યો પછી શું ફેર પડ્યો એવું પુછ્યું ને બદલામાં એમણે આ જવાબ આપ્યો.

છૂટક મજૂરી કરતા દેવાભાઈના પત્ની કાંગસિયા બહેનો ટોપલામાં શૃંગાર પ્રસાધનો વેચવા જાય એમ એ પણ કરતાં.

દેવાભાઈના બહેન ચાદરો, ટુવાલ ટૂંકમાં ઘરમાં વપરાતી રોજિંદી વસ્તુઓ વેચવાનું કરતાં ને એમાં એમને નફો સારો થતો. એમણે દેવાભાઈને મજૂરી મૂકી ધંધો કરવા કહ્યું. પણ દેવાભાઈ પાસે મૂડી નહીં. અમારા એ વિસ્તારના કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ, છાયાબહેન સાથે એ સંપર્કમાં. કનુભાઈ સાથે એમની વાત થઈને 30,000ની લોન અમે આપી ને પછી તો એમણે રફ્તાર પકડી. બીજી ને પછી ત્રીજી લોન લીધી. ધંધામાં નફો વધ્યો એટલે છોટાહાથી નામનું વાહન લીધુ. હવે દેવાભાઈ ને તેમના પત્ની બેય સાથે વાહનમાં બેસીને વિવિધ ગામડાંઓ વેપાર અર્થે ફરે. સાથે ગુજરી બજાર ભરાય ત્યાં પણ વેપાર કરવા જાય.

ત્રણ - ચાર વર્ષમાં જિંદગી બદલાઈ ગઈ. સો વાપરવામાં દસ વાર વિચાર કરવો પડતો તેની જગ્યાએ બે લાખ ડાઉનપેમેન્ટ ભરીને લીધેલી ગાડીનો બેંકનો હપ્તો, સંસ્થાનો હપ્તો આરામથી ભરાય છે ને બેંકમાં બચત પણ થાય છે.

સ્વપ્ન શું છે એવું પુછતાં દેવાભાઈએ કહ્યું, 'મારુ ઘર સરખુ બનાવવું છે ને ઘર માથે જ મોટો સો રૃમ. હોલસેલમાં સામાન વેચવાનું કરવું છે. હાલ લોકલ વેપારી પાસેથી હું સામાન લાવુ છુ તો નફો ઝાઝો નથી રહેતો. પણ એક વર્ષમાં હોલસેલમાં લુધિયાણાથી ધાબળા,ચાદરો ને બીજો સામાન સીધો ફેક્ટરીમાંથી લાવવો છે.. '

રોજનું લાવીને રોજ ખાનાર વ્યક્તિની આવક થોડી વધે તો સ્વપ્નો પોતાની રીતે મોટા થવા માંડે છે.. દેવાભાઈને એમના જેવા ઘણાયના કિસ્સામાં અમે આ જોયું છે..

વળી પૈસો કમાવવો જરૃરી પણ એનાથીયે વધારે જરૃરી સમાજના અન્યોને મદદરૃપ થવું. દેવાભાઈ એ રીતે પણ અમારી સાથે કાર્યરત...
