Will to succeed… VSSM helps Ramilaben begin her own venture…

Ramilaben Bajaniya at her tea-stall
“I wish to start a tea-cart/stall, will you give me loan to help me do so?”
“Where do you plan to start the tea-cart?”
“Near the bus-stop at Gamdi village.”
“Will your husband run the tea-stall??”
“My husband works at a factory, so I will run the stall. I plan to support the family income and be a support to my husband!”
“How many members do you have in your family?”
“My father-in-law, mother-in law, two kids and two of us.”
“The tea-stall will have lot of male customers, will you be comfortable attending them, what if you are unable to manage and plan to close the business??”
VSSM Co-ordinator Madhuben Naik and Mittal Patel at
Ramilaben Bajaniya's tea stall..
“What difference does it make if I run the tea-stall or my husband, it is important to make it a success and provide the support that is necessary to my husband. It does not make any difference whether it is men or women who come for tea at my tea-stall!”

As women, most of us are conditioned to think within the social boundaries of what is allowed and isn’t. But the very honest and fierce Ramilaben Bajaniya of Daskroi’s Gamdi village is willing to question the medieval mindsets for the well-being of her family.

Ramilaben Bajaniya had requested for a interest free loan from VSSM and our team-member Madhuben had made a strong recommendation for extending Rs. 30,000 loan to her.  With the loan Ramilaben could set up the tea-stall and the venture has done so well that she has already repaid Rs. 24,000.

Recently, we happened to visit the Devipujak settlement of Gamdi where we stopped for a cup of tea at Ramilaben’s stall. She seemed happier and gleaming with joy. The supplanted income has enabled the couple to build their own house. They are now looking for a new place to set-up the tea-stall as the current spot requires them to pay Rs. 600 as rent. Once the rent issue is sorted they will have some more money to save. Beginning next year, they also plan to send their elder son to a VSSM operated hostel.

We are grateful to all who have supported us in bringing such joy in the lives of thousands of women like Ramilaben….
