Families from nomadic communities begin independent businesses after availing loan from VSSM..

Mittal Patel meets Tulsiben Kangasiya during her visit to
Tankara

“You sensed my dreams, chose to support me as a result I have goods worth Rs. 3.5 lakhs stocked in this open-air shop. Two years ago, I could not purchase goods worth Rs. 10000!! Life is good now, we are making progress. You helped me reach here, now it is my turn to help others.

Tankara’s Zaverbhai’s face was lit with an unexplainable aura whilst he was narrating his journey with us. I looked a little confused when he mentioned his willingness to help others. And he could sense that.

“We haven’t known each other for long, yet you helped me expand this business, it has helped increase the profitability of the business. Kanubhai (VSSM’s team membe    r) always says that we are family to you. While sanctioning the loan, you also encourage our communities to support the families struggling to make ends meet. You ask us to make them part of our joy and happiness. Many buses make a stopover at this place. People disembark and many board the bus from here. I see a lot of tribal families reaching here in search of work. Last winter when I was setting this place, I saw their kids shivering of cold. Even their parents had nothing to warm them up. Ben, I brought 400 sweaters from seconds market. I gave them to whoever in need at this bus stop. I would have loved to give them new ones but that I could not afford. The intent was to keep them warm, the sweaters I provided must have done that.”

Zaverbhai Kangasiya's open-air shop
We were passing through Zaverbhai’s place in Tankara, we decided to stop by after we saw that he was around. He insisted we spend some time and took us to the charpoy at the back of his yard. Zaverbhai and Tulsiben reflected content and calmness on their face.

Only two years ago the same couple earned their living by working as loaders. Zaverbhai dreamed of a shop with good worth Rs. 5,000 to 10,000 stocked in it. Family and community helped him build some corpus to buy the shop, however, he was still short of funds. Taking a loan from a private money lender would have proved very expensive.

Zaverbhai was prepared to fly,  but the shortage of funds had clipped his wings. He was a little confused on how to go further.

Our Kanubhai and Chayaben talk about VSSM’s activities to the Kangasiya families of Saurashtra. They help them progress in life. Zaverbhai shared his dilemma to Kanubhai.

VSSM sanctioned Zaverbhai the loan because we knew he had a vision and was prepared to work hard to realize it. The loan helped meet the deficit for buying the shop and to procure goods to kick start the business.

There was no looking back for this couple after that. Within two years,   Zaverbhai paid-off all the debt he owned to everyone he had borrowed money to buy the shop. Shortly Zaverbhai is planning to buy another shop in  Tankara Bazar. He has goods word Rs. 3.5 lacks stocked with him.

VSSM has provided a loan to thousands of families to start their independent businesses, most of them believe that the funds VSSM provide are hard-earned money and will bring them good. I   also believe this because the funds VSSM’s well-wishers donate reflect their pure intent and humility. Such funds are bound to bring progress to its receiver.

We wish Zaverbhai and Tulsiben all the very best in their future endeavours.
